NOTICE:

ROUTINE SERVICE: FOUR TO SIX WEEKS
EXPEDITED SERVICE: TWO TO THREE WEEKS
Notice: Passport Processing fee to Increase
The US Department of State has increased the Passport Acceptance/Processing fee to $35.00 effective April 2, 2018.
We are here to assist you as you prepare to apply for a passport. Please use the information below as a checklist of what you will need to bring along with you to complete the process.
Passport Book
What you will need to bring with you:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship
- State certified birth certificate, long form only (mother and father must be included on the birth certificate) AND a photocopy of the front (and back, if there is printed information), OR previous or current full-validity U.S. passport.
- To get your birth certificate, visit Pennsylvania Vital Records / Birth Certificates or Out of State Vital Records / Birth Certificates
Proof of Identity
- Valid driver's license, state ID AND submit a photocopy of the front and back, OR current passport.
- If an applicant or the parents / legal guardians of a minor presents an out-of-state driver's license, additional identification is required, such as:
- Health insurance card
- Military ID
- School / college ID
- Social security card
- Work ID
Photographs
- One recent color passport photo (2 inches square)
- Passport photos can be taken in the Prothonotary's Office for a $10.50 fee
Fees
- 16 years of age and over: $110.00 (10-year passport)
You'll need a check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, and separate check, cash, or money order for the $35.00 execution fee made payable to the Lancaster County Prothonotary. - 15 years of age and under: $80.00 (5-year passport)
You'll need a check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State, and separate check, cash or money order for the $35.00 execution fee, payable to the Lancaster County Prothonotary. - For U.S. passport applications for children 15 years of age and under, both parents must be present. Both parents' names must also be on the state certified birth certificate.
Processing Times
The processing time is approximately four to six weeks from receipt by Passport Agency. If you would like your passport sooner, you may request expedited service at an additional cost of $60.00. This will speed your processing time to two to three weeks from receipt by the Passport Agency. For an additional $16.48, after two to three weeks the Passport Agency will overnight the passport back to you after processing.
You can fill-in and download your passport application online. You will then bring in your completed form, along with everything you need listed above to lessen your time here in our office.

What you will need to bring with you:
